‘The house was originally designed as Grunberg’s graduation project to deal with extreme temperatures like hot summers and frigid winters. The geometries and movement of the house are based on a mathematical formula by Henry Dudeny that calculates how a square can be formed by a series of equilateral triangles. D*Haus has taken this mathematical concept and applied it to architecture by creating four separate building modules that form a perfect square in plan. The idea is that these four components would move on rails, opening up during more temperate seasons and closing in during harsher weather conditions.'[Source: inhabitat]
